Hey, everyone! Welcome back to my weekly JournoDog recap of all the best, most tail-wagging news out there.

Here’s a question for you all, dear readers:

What is Black, White, READ all over?

A #JournoDog, of course!!!

That’s a little JournoDog newspapering and coloring humor, just in time for National Crayon Day on March 31.

For me, it’s been a colorful week in the news. Lots of different shades of interesting. Hues in the news, you might say. And marking #NationalCrayonDay, it’s a perfect time to share a specially-themed edition of the JournoDog Chronicles. I’m all about sniffing out some more color from recent news stories:

  • RIP, Crayon Color: Marking National Crayon Day 2017, Crayola decided to retire a color — the off-yellow shade known as dandelion. (Isn’t the color of the little lawn flower I like to eat…?) Oh well. This was apparently the first to be retired from the iconic 24-pack, though it will live on in the Crayon Hall of Fame, as do several other shades retired through the years in 2003 and 1990 when a whopping eight colors were knocked off. And there were a few other times when the crayon color lineup changed, too. From a dog that doesn’t see in full human-color, take some advice, humans: Calm down. This isn’t a big deal. There’s some real shady news happening in the world that needs more color brought to light, so let’s focus attention where it needs to be.
  • I See… Colors: In case you were wondering, no dogs aren’t fully colorblind like everyone once thought. Science says so, according to PetMD. We see more along the lines of a partially color-blind human (like my daddy!)
  • Color Me, Dog: Even if I can’t see all kinds of pretty shades, thanks to the new release of Facebook’s version of SnapChat, more picture and video editing with colors is possible. Now, I happen to not be a fan of this new FB feature. The developers really need to build in a disable choice, if you don’t want to see it displayed on your FB page or get flooded with notifications from everyone sharing new stories with you. Still, it was fun playing with all the color and getting my doggy art skill on!
Showing my true colors (and singing)
  • TWD v Toy Story: You might have heard The Walking Dead is finishing off its seventh season. Even though Negan is a mean man who probably doesn’t deserve a dog, I still appreciate actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan who has a special love for rescue dogs IRL While we mull what will happen next, it’s worth pondering this food for the thought — What if Toy Story and The Walking Dead are actually the same basic story?!?! See this video comparison. Whoa! Mind is totally blown here.
  • Pixar’s Pup: Oh, and about animated movies…! Say hello to Disney-Pixar’s latest animation short movie being released in November, which has a brief short film that will feature a hairless dog named Dante and be called Dante’s Lunch. The two-minute trailer came out this week and what a fun first look, as cute as a dog with(out) a bone it might be described. This made me crave a bone of my own to chase around… even if it has a mind of its own and tries to get away!
  • Not Puppy Endorsed: While we’re on the topic of movie trailers, the remake of the movie based on Stephen King’s IT book is due out this year. Um. not gonna lie: Don’t think this one’s on the list to see, at least not to the level of the new Planet of the Apes movie or Star Wars coming out in 2017. Nope, totally not happening. Pennywise is not puppy endorsed. The only good thing could be that someone might need to snuggle their dog after seeing this movie, but that may not even be enough comfort to calm nightmare of crazy killer clowns. Uh, no clown. Bad, clown.

Until next time, or whenever the news beckons like a barking dog you can’t help but pay attention to, #JournoDog out.

As always, remember: Love your dog. Read a newspaper. Grab some crayons and color, outside the lines. And try to smile and find a little happiness for your heart every day.
