Hey, everyone! Your alway-loyal news sniffing JournoDog here! In this latest special edition, I am bringing one pet’s POV to everything happening in this historic pandemic period.

Today, I am reporting live on the scene from my spot looking out the front window,. covering the new trend of all the humans who walk by the front of my house. And what’s remarkable: They are all wearing muzzles! Yup, no lie. I’ve seen it with these own two puppy eyes of mine.

Watching the news stations on TV and browsing media online, the struggle is real: Worldwide pictures of people wearing what appear to be muzzles, made out of cloth. bandanas, scarfs, shirts, and even some sporting more medically-designed muzzles.

You can even find sports team and designer looks, and some very strange and creepy ones where people are apparently trying to disguise themselves as dogs… Weird.

It’s a bit confusing to me. And it begs the key question: What the heck happened… did all the humans start barking uncontrollably, or biting other humans??

No, of course. It’s the COVID-19 crisis, the Great Pandemic of 2020.

The Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization (despite what a few misguided human leaders may say) are providing actual scientific and medicine-based advice that people should wear face-masks out in public, to limit exposure to this virus. Many are following that suit responsibly, but sadly not everyone is listening… because again, people are people and they aren’t always smart enough to use reason and common sense and do what’s needed.

It’s really why dogs and cats should be in charge.

My Mommy and Daddy are even getting in on the face-mask action, and they let me have some fun recently with my own bandana-made snout mask (even though pets aren’t at risk for developing or spreading this virus). It felt like a muzzle. I didn’t like it. But I played along, patiently sitting and posing for a few photos before pawing it off my nose.

Oh, silly people. We still love them, even if they are sometimes B-A-D and can’t treat each other responsibly. Some really do need to be on leashes and with muzzles mandated… Thankfully, in these stressful and uncertain times, some people are slowing down and appreciating time with their pets more… especially with “senior doggos” like me, who don’t have too long left with our beloved people.

Until the next time, whenever the news beckons like a barking dog you can’t help but pay attention to, #JournoDog out.

As always, remember: Love your pets. Read a newspaper. Appreciate all you have in life, even if you’re stuck at home in self-isolation. And even when scared or stressed, try to smile and find a little happiness for your heart every day.
