Hey, everyone! Your alway-loyal news sniffing JournoDog here! In this latest special edition, we’re talking the Election 2020.
Lots of poop out there and humans are all exhausted, so let’s keep it pet-focused and happy here today.
Congrats to new First Dog-elects
Huge congrats to the new First Dog-elects: Major and Champ Biden! As most know, the past 4 years have been particularly dire given the White House hasn’t had a First Pooch like most presidential families have had before. In fact, even the wondrous Newseum in Washington D.C. had an exhibit about all the First Dogs going back through the centuries. My sources say it was quiet the exhibit to see!

Notably, one of the Biden Dogs will mark a historic first in being the first-ever rescue dog at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.. Yep, the Biden family adopted the German Shepard named Major from the Delaware Humane Association in November 2018, a decade after they’d welcomed into the family their first German Shepard named Champ.
Champ and Major are frequently featured on the Bidens’ social media pages and even made some special appearances leading up to the presidential election. And during the campaign, President-elect Biden often said he had a goal of “bringing dogs back to the White House.”
Woof woof, three tail-wagging cheers to that!!! I’m not alone in being excited, as word is several other pup-fluencers have shared their own POVs on this since Biden’s win was announced.
“THERE WILL BE DOGS IN THE WHITE HOUSE AGAIN!!” Doug the Pug tweeted.
While there is certainly still some question over final election results given the overly-strange Electoral College process, it does appear that the Trump re-election prediction by Amelia the Flying Squirrel wasn’t correct. Sorry, little squirrel. Maybe next time.
New mayor-elect bulldog
In other Election 2020 News, it’s also worth highlighting the results from a small unincorporated Kentucky community along the Ohio River. In Rabbit Hash, KY, a French bulldog named Wilbur Beast is the new mayor. He unseats the incumbent Mayor Brynneth Pawltro, a rescued pit bull who’s been in office since 2017.

Apparently according to local news-folk there, this river community has elected a dog mayor every four years since the late 1990s. Residents can “vote” for their fav canine candidate with a $1 donation to the Rabbit Hash Historical Society.
For 2020, Wilbur’s campaign raised a total of $6,165. The race raised a total of $13,156.
The local media reports that Wilbur hopes to continue raising $$ through donations to the Rabbit Hash Historical Society, as well as supporting other causes that include mental health and breast cancer.
OK, that’s all for today.
Until the next time, whenever the news beckons like a barking dog you can’t help but pay attention to, #JournoDog out.
As always, remember: Love your pets. Read a newspaper. Be kind to each other no matter what. And even when scared or stressed, try to smile and find a little happiness for your heart every day.
