Hey, frendz! Your loyal tail-wagging JournoDog here again scanning the news for smiles and happz.
It’s ruff some days sniffing the sniffs and digging up scoops on the Interwebz. Even for seasoned canine journos like me, news fatigue is for realz.
The Loud Shiny Rectangle is usually full of stressful hooman nonsense. And it just makes us all so mad.
But every now and then, a hard-hitting hooman journo unburies a big scoop and crafts a lede so pure it brings all the happz and tail-wags. Like this:

According to my sources scanning the wires, a 6-year-old rescue dog named Jonah attended the Miami Marlees “Bark at the Park” night playing against the Tex Ranglers.
While the hoomans were busy watching the baseball game, Jonah was caught on camera catching the real scoop: a fellow furry frend nearby scarfing down a juicy ballpark hot dog.
Yep, Jonah watched longingly and with absolute attention at the neighbor dog’s hot dog treat.
No doubt, the story made him lick the scents just as the rest of us watching that story were licking our lips, too. [So meta!]
The Interwebz completely lost its mind over his intense focus. As it should. The Marlins even put out a “WANTED” flyer on social media to track down this very good boi.
Spoiler: (according to next-day news): They found him, frendz!
Now, Jonah is getting his very own VIP celebration called “Jonah’s Dream Day at the park on Sunday, July 12. He will get to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game against the Cleevy Guard(dogs?), and a portion of the ticket proceeds will go directly to local animal rescues.
This news gives me an incredibly pawz-itive feeling!
As a dog with his very own plush hot dog toy that I absolutely love to chew on, I get it. Hot dogs bring joy.

Makes me get so ‘cited for all the hot dog eating fun coming up on the broadcasting networks this season.
More Hot Dog Joy in the News
My investigative reporting has uncovered some deeply curious data regarding the upcoming Nathan’s champ contest for hot dog eating.
It starts this July 4 and my canine coin is on my fave Joey Chestnut, who is competing for his 18th title.
Last year, I watched the legend hooman hot dog scarfer take the Mustard Belt by inhaling 70.5 hot dogs and buns in just 10 minutes. That wasn’t even his highest, from an earlier 76 wiener-meat treats.
Hooman girls, too. Top-ranked Miki Sudo is be aiming for her 12th title overall after eating 33 last year.
What a weird hooman ritual. I mean, I do love hot dogs – plush, air scent licks, or yummy off-the-table treats. But how?
Are the hoomans even chewing? Don’t they have to beg for doggo meat treats like me?
So many strange angles to this story. Hope to learn more as I sniff future media coverage clues.
Beware: Holiday Sky-Booms
While we’re celebrating hot dogs, your scoop-sniffing JournoDog must take a moment to pivot to the scary news that always pops up this time of year.
Yes, boom booms and sky-booms.
The hoomans love to celebrate with bright, flashy sky-booms. These sudden ‘plosions create a scary time for our pet frendz when it gets dark O-U-T-S-I-D-E.
Some doggos (and hoomans, too) get much more scared than others. It can make hearts race. Our ears hear these explosions four times further away than human ears can
We need to give snuggs, belly rubs, and ear-scratches to keep them happz.
Smartys at the American Kennel Club (AKC) and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) have released official safety data to help the pet community survive the sky-boom season.
Hopefully, hoomans can follow these frontline safety rules:
- Make sure they have collars on tightly and ID tags are accurate, and tiny tacking chips under fire are up to date so lost frendz can be scanned and brought home.
- Don’t take us to an actual sky-boom show or leave us O-U-T-S-I-D-E in a fenced yard. A sudden boom can make even a calm doggo jump a fence and bolt, even if you think we’re all OK with sky-booms.
- AKC claims special anxiety vests or pressure wraps can sooth us, along with consistent pressure to our body. This might feel like an extended snug from Ma or Dad while the world outside is at war.
- Experts suggest freezing a hollow rubber toy or lick mat with treats before the boom booms begin. This repetitive licking can calm our canine noggins, distracting us from the sky-boom chaos.
Doggo Pro tip: Hot dog toys for joy! Cmon, try it. This JournoDog finks your furry frend would love it and might even give you a Mustard Belt of Hot Dog Love!
Until the news beckons like a barking dog you can’t ignore, JournoDog out.
Always remember, love your pets. Support local journalism. Celebrate hot dogs, truth and accuracy. And try to find smiles and happz for your heart every day.
