Hey, Frendz! It’s me, your loyal tail wagging, scoop-sniffin’ JournoDog.
Every investigative doggo needs the right tools to do their reporting. That includes canine correspondents like me.
My Dad-editor calls them my “curious ears,” and they come straight from my DNA roots:
- My Rhody Ridgeback and Rott roots give them my strength to leap toward breaking news at just a moment’s notice.
- Shar-Pei wrinkles brings tight creases that lock in sound, and a wrinkly face and head that compliments my curious ears.
- My Cataluna Leopard Dog lineage gives my a signature, always-alert fold needed for any story hunting doggo.
- And my Beagle blood? It means I have a great high-security howl to alert for threats, and that often works along with my curious ears.
Together, this Kentucky-supplied DNA combo acts like a natural radar, giving me an ability to find scoops and do good journalism like no other canine correspondent.
You may not know, but my curious ears have a styleguide for how they work.
- One ear perks up slightly, to catch a distant squirrel rustling in the bushes, or when Ma moves through the kitchen ready to open a cheese wrapper.
- The other ear stretches outward in the opposite direction, to keep tabs on Dad who is being a menace nearby.
My curious ears work in perfect harmony to make sure no scoop, slice of cheese, or squeaky toy gets past me.
And yes, my ears are alert and curious even if my tail’s not thump thump thumping or wagging curiously.
It’s all a process. From my curious ears ID’ing a scoop, paws on the beat finding sources, and sniffs around the yard or neighborhood digging up new leads.
Sometimes when I write ledes, I stop moving my paws and tilt my head to the side slightly with my curious ears working as I mull a new thought.
That’s all from this good boi. Until the news beckons like a barking dog with curious ears you can’t ignore, JournoDog out.
Always remember: Love your pets. Support local journalism. Trust truth and facts. And try to find some smiles and happz for your heart every chance you get.
